During the Easter Season we recount the stories of the Risen Jesus appearing to his followers. Each Sunday we read a story from the Gospels that tells us about these appearances.
May 8 is Mother’s Day. A special project to support the ELCA Malaria campaign will be offered. Mothers will be wearing net corsages that are available for $10. These monies will be put towards purchasing mosquito nets for mothers in Africa to prevent the spread of malaria.
Mt. Horeb will be joining with the community for Relay for Life, May 6, 7pm, at Chapin High School, to raise support for American Cancer Society and cancer research. On Saturday, May 7, Mt. Horeb pastors will perform a special Bike Blessing at the Tour deCure Bike Rally that is being held at the Little Mountain Reunion Park. The blessings will be 30 minutes before the start of each race at 7:30am and 9:30am. Bring your bicycle and support the Diabetes Association efforts.
The Children’s Choir at Mt. Horeb will have its Spring Musical, “It’s Cool in the Furnace,” on Sunday, May 15, 6pm. A spaghetti meal will be served at 5pm with proceeds benefiting the summer music camp. Third and Fourth Graders will be recognized as part of Mt. Horeb’s Milestone Ministry for meeting with parents and the pastors and learning the Ten Commandments.
After one and a half years of growing in our knowledge of the Holy Scriptures, a Day of Celebration will take place on Sunday, May 22, during the Sunday School hour. We will celebrate the Book of Faith Initiative and the congregation’s completion of Reading Through the Bible. High School graduates will also be recognized during worship at this Sunday.
